Checked on the live form
We looked at the official form at tdac.immigration.go.th on 3 November 2026: "Occupation" is a required text box in the Personal Information section. Some guides online say it's a dropdown with fixed options like "Child" — the live form doesn't work that way, so you can simply type your answer.
What to type
| Your situation | Type this |
|---|---|
| Baby or young child | Child |
| School-age child | Student or Child |
| University or college student | Student |
| Retired | Retired |
| Employed | Your job title in plain words, e.g. Nurse, Engineer, Teacher |
| Self-employed or freelance | Self-employed or your trade, e.g. Graphic designer |
| Business owner | Business owner |
| Looking after the home or family | Homemaker |
| Between jobs | Unemployed |
Tips
- Keep it short and plain. A word or two is enough — no company names or long descriptions needed.
- Use English. The whole form must be completed in English.
- Be honest. This is an official immigration record. Don't describe yourself as something you're not.
- Filling in for a family? Use the group option to submit for up to 10 travellers at once — and enter each child's occupation as
ChildorStudent.

Frequently asked questions
What do I put as occupation on the TDAC for a child?
Type "Child". For a school-age child, "Student" is also fine. The occupation field is a free-text box, so there is no list you have to match.
Is the TDAC occupation field a dropdown?
No. On the official form at tdac.immigration.go.th it is a required free-text box. Some guides describe a dropdown with set options, but that is not what the live form shows.
What should a retired person put as occupation?
Type "Retired".
What if I am unemployed or between jobs?
Type "Unemployed". Be honest — the field just needs a short, accurate answer.
Can I leave the occupation field blank?
No. It is marked as required, so the form will not let you continue without it.
